Google plans to unveil its own Second Life, an MMOG that has taken the gaming world by storm. Second Life requires gamers to download and then install and individual software in order to access the online gaming environment. Google’s Lively also requires the same from it gamers, they can access the game using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Google’s engineering manager says, “It’s integrated with the internet. It’s not an alternate destination.” Basically, this means that gamers can put different type of content that is hosted on the internet including videos and photos. Another thing is that your Lively arena can be embedded in your blog. You just need to use the widgets that Google has developed on Facebook and Myspace.
With Lively, it becomes possible for you to create your own spaces including grassy meadows, deserts, and rooms. Similar to Second Life, you are able to change the clothing of your avatar; and yes, you can chat, shake hands, backflip, and give high-fives to anyone you encounter.
Lively is reinventing the way people socialize through the internet. It provides users better social dimensions in which to conduct transactions and express themselves. It is definitely a lot better than the usual emoticon that people have become used to.
