Intel, a large chip maker corporation as well as a longtime partner of Microsoft have refused to upgrade the computers of its employees to Vista which is Microsoft’s newest operating system. A person with an intimate knowledge of the company strategy stated. However, the person requested anonymity because of the sensitive situation between Microsoft and Intel.
Intel made this decision after studying the software by its internal staff. The technical staff has conducted a cost-benefit analysis and has decided against moving to the upgraded version. A lot of customers have already complained that the new Vista is”buggy” software that needs complicated and expensive hardware upgrades before it can function properly.
The chip maker also said that the company it testing Vista in some of its departments for adaption but it will not be adapted throughout the company. The Intel decision is certain to damage the relationship between the two companies because both have worked together in aligning software and hardware solutions since the early days of personal computers. In the PC industry, there are even nicknamed “Wintel”.
Could the company change its decision? It is possible. But currently, it is not alone in its reluctance to embrace the new system. A lot of corporations have decided against using Vista as well because of its costly hardware upgrades at the time when the economy is weak.
