The open-source web browser will have its final version by June of this year. Mozilla, the company that developers Firefox already stated that, “we’re looking for the final ship sometime in June” so Firefox fans definitely have a lot to get excited about. One of the major draws of Firefox is its wide variety of available add-ons. However, this also means that most programmers must move slowly in order to make their applications compatible with the latest version. This is probably the reason why Mozilla is monitoring the reactions of 1.5 million people who have already installed Firefox 3 release 1 on their computers.
Firefox definitely came a long way from its slow start as it strived to get market share against Internet Explorer. Although Microsoft still currently dominates the web browser industry with IE, Firefox has upped the ante of what web browsers should be like. This has forced Microsoft to invest more into the development of IE. In fact, even Apple has bought the Safari browser to Windows in order to compete effectively in the market. Browsers are certainly becoming more essential as the internet moves toward interactive pages from Web 2.0. It is for this reason that browsers now utilize more JavaScript for added speed and power.
