It’s now official, DreamWorks Animation has partnered with Intel to power the movie studio’s 3D tools. The company is faced with increasing demands for 3D feature films as movie-goers become more sophisticated. Through their alliance with Intel, DreamWorks will be able to have access to Intel’s top engineers who will work with them to develop and tweak their existing software applications. The studio’s current programs should also be adapted to work with Intel-based infrastructure.
According to DreamWorks’s chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, “Technology plays a significant role in enabling our artists to tell great stories. By utilizing Intel’s industry-leading computing products, we will create a new and innovative way for moviegoers to experience our films in 3D.”
One of the first-ever project from this collaboration is the much-awaited Monsters vs. Aliens. This is part of DreamWorks’s effort to create only stereoscopic 3D films starting next year.
